Bretonnians - The Rise of a Bretonnian Army Part 8

The Rise of a Bretonnian Army Part 8

More Longbowmen and an additional Standard bearer.   He will go in the other unit I had already painted.
I will add the actual flags at a later point.

My Pegasus Knights.

I was trying to get away from the fairytale Pegasus are white image so painted it more of a flying horse, hence my Pegasus will be in the same colours as my conventional cavalry.   Because of their higher prestige I tried to make the barding/cloth-work  a little more intricate then the Knights.  So a little more free hand work.

I finally decided to add a bit of white so that they are not completely removed from the fairy tale look.
Did it work?

I just realised my pictures are a bit Cr*p , the cloth-work on the Pegasus is made up of little diamond shapes with the fleur de lye inside.

Pegasus Knight #2

Again sorry for the quality of the pictures.

My BSB, in the flesh and with a little paint.

The flag pole is in My lords Colours as he will be carrying the Lords Colours rather then his own.

So with my Men at Arms I figures My BSB would have his own loyal subjects (I painted the MAA a while ago now)

Here is the BSB with his loyal Commoners

And Finally a little work on some Grail Knights.

Not 100% happy with these so will probably sell them off and redo them over the summer.   I did have another 2 done but I dropped and smashed them, I was just a little annoyed with myself for doing that I can tell you.  Anyway the surviving 5 Grail Knights as they stand at the moment.  Not quite finished with these guys yet.
I now need to find some stand-ins for the broken grail Knights.

Bretonnians - The Rise of a Bretonnian Army Part 7

The Rise of a Bretonnian Army Part 7

My second unit of Men at Arms, this time under the service of my armies Paladin (The BSB).   So to show that they come from his household they are painted in his colours and will ultimately carry a banner from his estate.

and of course the obligatorily picture showing the rear as the shields pretty much cover the entire front of these figures.

and a few more pony riders

and finally the group shot for this

Bretonnians - The Rise of a Bretonnian Army Part 6

The Rise of a Bretonnian Army Part 6

Another quick update,  now I have a little momentum I figured it was best to keep going as there is no telling when this will grind to a halt again.

Group shot of the latest 4 knights

The knights as a whole

And finally the army as it looks so far (still plenty more to do)

Cheers

Bretonnians - The Rise of a Bretonnian Army Part 5

The Rise of a Bretonnian Army Part 5

My first Character.

Ok so the idea behind this Character is its to represent a 'Scroll Caddy' I wanted the Damsel to remain feminine whilst the horse reflected a more masculine image.  I imagined that the damsels would not often ride out to war and the horse should reflect that its part of my Lords retinue. Hence the colouring on the barding is to the colour scheme of my yet un-assembled lord.  (all be it a simplified version of what I have planned)

I still need to paint the script on the numerous parchments.  I have not done this kind of work before so if anyone can point me in the direction of some good advice then it would be most welcome.

I am finding that painting a colourful army is loads of fun.  My Skaven army, that although I am told is nicely painted, contrasts drastically with this one.   I am hopeful that all those little extras that are easily overlooked in my mass of brown Skaven will shine through with the Bretonnians.

Anyway enough gibbering and onto the pictures.

Next up is some Archers.

10 Longbowmen Ready for action.

These were pretty quick to do.  Having been painting brown for ages I have amassed what must be the worlds largest collection of different browns (well it feels that way)

So mostly Natural colours of browns and un-dyed linen for these guys.   Tried to keep the same feel as with the men at Arms and also tried to link them with the Lords Heraldry without using too much red and yellow.

Next Character on the painting Block was this little chappie.

I present  The Lord of My Humble Bretonnian Force

and now with a splash of paint.

Sorry for the rushed photos.
