Macedonian Army Part 12

It's all Greek to me.

I have been slowly plodding along with this little project, although there was a slight delay whilst waiting on another delivery of figures and decals.

I went with unarmed Greeks for most of my mercenaries.  I just like the different shield options that they can have.

I painted up enough to form either 2 large Phalanx or 4 smaller units.   Combined with the previous Mercenaries I painted up I now have enough to form the second line for the centre.

I have double the number of Companion Cavalry, added 3 units of Light Cavalry and 10 bases of Skirmishers.

The Big Stoketake. Part 3

Roaring Across the Finish Line.

I finally managed to finish my outstanding unpainted parts for Maximillian.

It took a little longer than I had planned, mainly due to work commitments but they are now done.

First up 4 motorcycles.  These will add some nice variety to the available vehicles.  With their slimmer and shorter bases, they should be a lot more manoeuvrable in the game.  The size of a model effects who acts first in instances of equal speed bands and also how far each vehicle moves.  Slim bases will allow them to navigate through smaller places and makes a slimmer profile to aim at.

The trike is somewhat of a hybrid between a car and a bike and probably suffers from the worst of both, but I like the figure and it adds some wacky variety.

3 more drivers, including one with its faithful pooch. I went with Red Kangaroos rather than the greys we have here in Western Australia.

Finally, I decided that the checkpoint markers and start and finish line flags were on unnecessarily large bases.  So, I pulled them apart and remade them.

And that as they say is that!

Now with the newly sized flags everything can fit nicely away into its own little storage box, along with dice, movement measurement tools and rule books.

The Big Stocktake. Part 2

Rev Heads

So, after a really easy start with the first box containing a completely painted collection it's on to box 2.

Maximillian 1934 by Eureka Miniatures.

A relatively small game where really each player only needs one model.  Its great as a massive multiplayer game for club nights.  It's pretty simple but still loads of fun.

So, I have a fair few bits painted up for this already.

I tried to keep my vehicles with a bit of a 'Wacky Racers' feel to them with their colours.

I have some 'checkpoint' markers.  The number of barrels indicates the order in which they are to be navigated.  The yellow flags are to indicate hazards.

I have also painted up a few drivers for the inevitable situation when a vehicle gets disabled.

The remainder of my terrain comes from my generic desert rocky outcrops collection and is probably not really worth highlighting in too much detail.

Of course, although really set in Australia there is nothing stopping me taking the races to any sandy area really.

On the 'To do' pile to finish this project off I have.

2 Motorcycles

2 Tandem Motorcycles

1 Trike

3 Kangaroos

3 Drivers

1 Miniature Dachshund called Jellybean.
