Gangs of Rome - The Begining

Rome

Inspired by the history of the great city, Gangs of Rome takes place in the shadows of the Empire where the heads of ambitious houses have gathered fighters forged hard by the streets to do their bidding and enact their schemes.

As a Dominus, the head of a house of Rome, you will seek out the most brutal of Rome's criminal denizens, plying them with the promise of wealth and glory should they aid you in your plan to rise to the Senate of Rome and cast down all enemies before you.

Closing about you like a ring of steel your gang will arm themselves and take to the streets and alleyways of the city, advancing your interests and crushing your foes.
Your strategies mixed with their savagery, mind and sword as one as you carve your name across the very pages of history.

Getting Started

Gangs of Rome is an awesome skirmish level game by Footsore Miniatures that sees small gangs of fighters battling it out amongst the streets of ancient Rome.

I think one of the biggest draws for me, aside from the setting is that it is played on a small 3' x 3' playing surface with only a handful of models on each side.  Sure you need to have a decent amount of terrain but you can have your games pretty much set anywhere in the Ancient World as Rome's influence spread far and wide.

The rules are simple yet engaging and Footsore Miniatures have come up with an awesome two player starter set called Blood on the Aventine.

Anyway, this is my humble beginnings in Gangs of Rome.

The Mob
Rome is not just a city of stone and marble, it teems with millions of individuals, from business folk to common beggars, this set is ideal to represent common Roman folks going about their day!
I decided to paint all my Mob figures with a similar colour scheme so that the actual gang members would stand out a little.

The Mob are mounted on multi bases and form a type of moving scenery element that can be interacted with during the game.

The black space left on one of the bases is waiting on another figure.  I'm tempted to look for a suitable stray dog figure to add a little more variety.

Some painted Gang members mixing in with the crowds.

I'm really looking forward to getting some games in but first I will need to get my finger out and rustle up some terrain.

Thanks for Looking.
